Not being a smartass. It’s obvious how much he wanted this but if he had lost it’s easy to wonder what the opposite of this would have been and it’s not fun to contemplate.

The tragedy of sports, which has been witnessed countless times?
Like, do you think he would have offed himself or something?

No of course not but you seldom see a pro athlete break down like that after a victory. And he already had the meltdown after the US Open last year. Maybe I’m too empathetic but I have to imagine the opposite of that is not good at all.

You're probably right. Seeing Joy, as always, 1000x better than seeing heartbreak, which is 1000x better than seeing Dechambeau joy. ( :) )

If you had to take one guy, gun to your head, to become the first Golden Slam, are you taking Rory or Scottie?
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Tied with Mel Ott at Number 25 is Miguel Cabrera at 511.

I'd say having 4/5ths of it, even lacking the one that happens only every four years, would still make Rory the favorite.

Rory’s also likely guaranteed to make his Olympic team at least twice maybe three more times. Not sure you can say that about any American - even Scottie - given how tough it is to get one of those four spots.

ETA: never mind. That was the 2nd.
While I really doubt it is the case, it would be very funny if you had forgotten hitting an ace.

Scottie already has the Gold from 2024, so it’s whether you think Rory can win an Olympic gold before Scottie wins the US and British Opens and the PGA.

That was insane.

(Nantz referred to a "double-eagle" a few times on the broadcast yesterday, as opposed to albatross.)
