Intimate venue is right. He's amazing. I saw him once with Sugar and once solo w a band. Glad you went. $30 is a great price, fuck those fees.DaveInSeattle wrote: Tue Apr 08, 2025 1:32 pm Bob Mould was fantastic last night. Guy still brings the heat.

I'd go again, but of the different incarnations of him that I've seen, this is my least favorite.mister d wrote: Sun Apr 06, 2025 7:28 pm Feels like "and the show will be acoustic" is the greatest test of whether you really, really like an artist.

Does this mean you didn't see Dave Matthews and Friends including Trey 20+ years ago?

I did not. Looks like a fun show.mister d wrote: Tue Apr 08, 2025 3:23 pm Does this mean you didn't see Dave Matthews and Friends including Trey 20+ years ago?

Would you go? I thought you don't listen to them since they peaked in '97.Rush2112 wrote: Tue Apr 08, 2025 9:16 pmPhish is playing in Boulder over the 4th of July weekend, sort of wish I wasn't out of town.bfj wrote: Tue Apr 08, 2025 3:08 pmI'd go again, but of the different incarnations of him that I've seen, this is my least favorite.mister d wrote: Sun Apr 06, 2025 7:28 pm Feels like "and the show will be acoustic" is the greatest test of whether you really, really like an artist.

Last night Strings in Savannah absolutely killed - three hours less a 20 minute or so intermission. Five songs on the encore - 10 out of 10 worth the drive. Night two coming up. Genuinely happy I am here.

I know mostly talking to myself on Strings stuff - but that was all-time high first set from them - we got Dylan (tangled up in blue) , Floyd (fearless ) and Dead (all time low) (or is that Panic?) interspersed with some of their best including Turmoil and Heartbeat of America. Absolutely insane set.

Glad the epic journey paid off.
And I liked Gild the Lily from earlier this year so much that it went straight to my drinking at the beach playlist.

Oh yeah, Gild is an instant jam classic for them live. It popped up in set 2 last night. Absolutely transcendent night.rass wrote: Sun Apr 13, 2025 9:23 am Glad the epic journey paid off.

Until my daughter's junior high dance rectial ruined it, I could've had a weekend of Vandoliers, American Aquarium, and Wilco. Two out of three ain't bad!

Gotta say it's cool reading about your new passion. Gives me hope for when I get the last of the parasites out of my house and can get my life back. I went into a Billy Strings rabbit hole a couple years ago when someone (Sancarlos?) posted about him, and I absolutely love his music. Maybe one day I'll get into it more.tennbengal wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 8:20 pm I know mostly talking to myself on Strings stuff - but that was all-time high first set from them - we got Dylan (tangled up in blue) , Floyd (fearless ) and Dead (all time low) (or is that Panic?) interspersed with some of their best including Turmoil and Heartbeat of America. Re: The Live Music thread...
I forgot to mention this after I went, but BJ's solo set was amazing. Giff, if you don't like stripped down how do you feel about it when he isn't with the full band? I loved the stories and song mix. No kidding it was a one man monologue/standup set/music gig. MY buddy that went with me became a fan for life after only having heard the "hits" before then.

When they tell stories like BJ does, I enjoy the stripped down a lot more.A_B wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:25 am I forgot to mention this after I went, but BJ's solo set was amazing. Did he tell the Julius Hodge story and how it inspired "Wolves"?

No, but we aren't in Wolves country. Several longer ones but longest were about his mom and grandma. I'd heard the broad strokes of the mom for The Last Year in Nashville, but I was less impaired this time.Giff wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:28 amWhen they tell stories like BJ does, I enjoy the stripped down a lot more.A_B wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:25 am I forgot to mention this after I went, but BJ's solo set was amazing. Managed to score tickets yesterday (no thanks to Ticketmaster and their terrible website) to see LCD Soundsystem and TV On The Radio in August.
Re: The Live Music thread...
If I hadn't just seen TVotR, this would have been a great reason to go see LCD without being too invested in the show being how I'd like it to be.DaveInSeattle wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 9:01 am Managed to score tickets yesterday (no thanks to Ticketmaster and their terrible website) to see LCD Soundsystem and TV On The Radio in August.

The re-discovery of live music has been the best. Four concerts/festivals dead ahead over the next two months. I was one ace from having to cancel on catching up with you due to a trip with my wife, but that got changed.

Just found out that Warrant is playing a concert at the casino attached to the truck stop I'm parked at tonight. Almost wish I didn't have to wake up at 4:30 and/or liked shitty music!
