Oh yeah, for sure. He was 1st or 2nd in the AL in K's last year I don't remember which, but 14.2 is just insane Nolan Ryan type stuff. He was way better in the second half of the season instead of the first half, so interesting to see if he can keep it going. (If there were such a thing as Cy Young awards for half seasons, he probably would have won it in a walk for the second half.)Icepenis wrote:He was at 11.1 last year. He's always been a strikeout guy, no?

Love Scherzer, and he was great in the second half. But this small sample consists entirely of pitching against three pretty weak lineups.
Hernandez was more impressive last night because of who he was pitching to.

The Indians batted around the order in consecutive innings tonight. Astros pitchers have thrown more than 85 pitches through two innings. 14-0 Indians with 13 hits.

IP 6.2 (95-58) H 4 R 0 BB 2 Ks 8.
That is more like it, Timmay. Had nice command of a 91mph fastball, getting swing-thrus the first time through the Pads order; mixed his split and slider in the middle innings. The old game plan. Posey caught. Panda homered, Casilla and Romo sharp. Good night, 2-0 win.

Based on how the Pirates radio announcers just orgasmed on-air, Justin Upton just made a hell of a catch to steal a HR from Alvarez.

It was a nice catch, but I don't think it would have been all that close to an HR (probably would have hit the base of the wall). Wasn't anything mindbreaking.

Wow. The Cubs certainly are impressive.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I couldn't make it past the 11th, but that was a gut punch after going up 4-2.

And just so no one thinks I am a fair-weather Joey Votto fan...he had two of the worst at-bats I have ever seen him have last night. 3 pitch strikeouts.

Oakland beats Boston today. 13-0. Game called after 7. I didn't even realize they had he mercy rule for Red Sox games.

Dylan Bundy to see Dr. Andrews.
I'm reading that people surmise that it may not be anything major, but any time a pitcher's elbow hurts, I think it's probably something major.

It's 4:15 in the East. A nasty storm woke me up, and the A's and Angels are still playing in Oakland. Bottom of the 18th. Longest A's game in history as of a few minutes ago.

It's 14-2 Indians versus Philly in the top of the 8th, but the interesting thing about it is the game is just over two hours in length.
ETA: The Indians also have hit seven home runs in the game.

Looks like I got this avatar in the nick of time. Up 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th against a Stantonless Marlins squad:
Bottom 9
Offensive Substitution: Pinch-hitter Chris Coghlan replaces Ryan Webb.
1.Chris Coghlan singles on a soft line drive to left fielder Lucas Duda.
With Juan Pierre batting, passed ball by Anthony Recker, Chris Coghlan to 2nd.
2.Juan Pierre hits a sacrifice bunt. Chris Coghlan to 3rd. Juan Pierre to 1st.
Coaching visit to mound.
Pitching Change: Brandon Lyon replaces Jeremy Hefner, batting 9th.
3.Donovan Solano singles on a line drive to right fielder Mike Baxter. Chris Coghlan scores. Juan Pierre to 3rd.
4.Brandon Lyon intentionally walks Placido Polanco. Donovan Solano to 2nd.
Coaching visit to mound.
With Greg Dobbs batting, wild pitch by Brandon Lyon, Juan Pierre scores. Donovan Solano to 3rd. Placido Polanco to 2nd.
