The best/worst part is that a Minnesota team is coming in a couple of seasons, they want to use the "United" moniker too, and in their case it actually makes some sense.

Minnesota already has it, so changing their name because of Atlanta would be dumb.

And so would having three teams named United in the same conference.

Tottenham just increased the size of their new stadium (which is finally under construction).

It is being built with the NFL in mind.

and remember they sold Buffon to Juventus all those years ago for what still is a transfer record. They also sold the likes of Crespo, Cannavaro, Thuram, Adriano and Vernon. Almost every year they take in more transfer money then they spend. So where is all the money?

Spurs wanted the Olympic Stadium (and considering what West Ham is paying... who could blame them.

The Crystal Palace site was always the third choice behind the Olympic Stadium and staying in Tottenham. But the team had real difficulties with the local council getting approval, and then some of the owners of adjacent property held out for a lot of cash. The last hold out - Archway Steel -had an unfortunate thing happen to his business...

Basically, building the new stadium along White Hart Lane is a real hassle - and the team will have to play away from Tottenham for two full seasons.

The options are Wembley, Milton Keynes or a combination of both. None of which is optimal. making things worse is the fact that Chelsea also wants to play home games at Wembley while Stamford Bridge is being redeveloped. Daniel LEvy is a frugal man - he won't throw cash around like Abramovich, so Spurs may spend two years out in the wilderness.

Wonder if the NFL can cut a deal to have them play their home league matches on the East Coast in an NFL stadiums. Wonder if that would help Spurs jump up a few spots in the U.S. Setup in the Mid Atlantic at the begging of the year, in the Winter move to Florida and as the spring hits go to New England.

Is moving from one side of town to another a big deal, or of as little significance as the NY Jets moving from Shea to The Meadowlands? Spurs fans still make fun of Arsenal - calling them the "Woolwich Wanderers" - because they moved from Woolwich in South London... a century ago.

Europeans are so Parochial (or is it "tribal"?") when it comes to their towns and home regions. Unimaginable that a team in England would move 40 miles like the 49ers did. And in London (where there are maybe 10 Football League teams) home territory is traditionally is so small. Granted, the bigger teams now have huge international audiences...

Some Spurs fans were apoplectic at the thought of the team moving to the east end (Olympic Stadium). Even though they'd save time getting to the games and the facilities would be better.

Tradition and all that...

There's Buenos Aires. This map is a bit old but I believe that at one point, 15 of the 20 teams in the Argentinian First Division played in Buenos Aires.Don't wear a jersey there, it'll probably be the wrong one.

Club loyalty is very neighborhood specific in Europe and England. It's a remnant from the origin of the clubs. They used to be actual clubs, and people joined their neighborhood club. From what I understand, it still works this way for kids in Holland.

There's a great soccer store not far from me run by a guy from Buenos Aires who has a really big Boca Juniors tattoo on his forearm. But in true Canadian fashion, he sticks a number of River Plate items as well.

It's happening AB. Bild is a noted Bayern paper. They don't put stuff on their front page about Bayern unless it's true. They could be unveiling Darmian and Schweinsteiger tomorrow.

This is an exciting signing for me. One of the players I've wanted United to sign for years.

So Liverpool have sold Raheem Sterling to Manchester City for £49m (~ €68m). Congrats Liverpool, that's an unbelievable deal!
