Answer
Monday July 13, 2015
Category: AMERICAN PRODUCTS
Clue: IN 1913 THIS CLEANING ITEM WAS BORN WHEN ITS CREATORS NAMED IT FROM A WORD MEANING "BRIGHT" OR "SHINING"

Answer: What is "Brillo"?

This was set up for me. First, I am old enough to have done dishes before Teflon coated pots and pans were ubiquitous; Brillo brand steel wool pads cannot be used on Teflon pans. But, more importantly, being a black kid with an afro in a white school, comparisons of my hair to Brillo pads was pretty regular teasing from my friends.

The lady who won today is a big Rush fan. For good luck, she brought a pair of Neil Peart drumstricks (although she did not twirl them); she wagered $2112 on the Daily Double.
