My sister and nephew were at the Arkansas upset. She's a Mizzou grad, so they were quite happy with the result.

You calling jlo a liar?

(even searching the archives Shirley provided I can only find one good reference to this event and it wasn’t the original and was in a pretty ugly thread so no link)

Are there like a ton of posts missing from this thread from the last few hours because it's all extremely confusing.

But yes, Rass, that looks exactly like the TV I busted throwing a tiny stuffed animal at it and didn't realize it had a porcelain bottom. It wasn't even a Steelers game.

According to the FB post, it was because I thought Wes Welker who was on my fantasy team caught a TD, and then it ended up being the Patriots other white wide receiver.

There was a time, say, 20 years ago (?) when the Sweet 16 games wrapped up by 7p EST on Sunday, which meant you had overlap on game starts/endings. That’s where a lot of the madness came in. When every game has its own exclusive stage, it’s not so high on the madness factor.

every game doesn't have its own exclusive time. just four games over the entire weekend are on in their own windows. the other 12 all overlap in various capacities

eta: that's not a defense of the way it's set up. ideally they'd all be staggered an hourish apart after tipping off at Noon ET. but CBS gets to call the shots with this TV deal and it wants the first three games

I’m not just saying this entirely because my wife and I are both top 3 in a 135 person pool but there should be periodic payouts. It shouldn’t just be about choosing the eventual winner. Unless that eventual winner is UCLA or Houston.

45 minutes(?) or whatever is the standard length of a first half?

The pool I’m in does that. Those at #1 after each round wins a %.

first game officially starts at 12:10 p.m. ET and it's eight games at four sites where one ticket at each site gains you entry to both games (AKA the games at each site aren't spaced out by more than a half hour or so)

basically that's the long way of saying hourish is +/- 20 each way if you did a true stagger start and there have been more than a few games already this weekend that have gone 2:20 or so because of all the damn commercials and reviews

Losing to Kentucky isn't humiliating, but losing your coach (who was born in Providence!) to the basement of your own conference? Yikes.

Georgetown has been a sleeping giant for the past few decades. In all honesty, they have a national brand on relatively the same level as the blue bloods.

It only takes the right coach to awaken the beast.

It does with us old dudes. Does anyone under the age of 30 care about Georgetown? Their last significant players retired from the NBA years ago.

It’s even more complicated than that. They have an endowment, but it’s pretty modest compared to its peers (top 20-25 academic institution in the USA), because of some rather limited-in-scope Jesuit direction long ago. They’ve been playing catch-up for the 21st century.

So long as they’re an attractive option for NIL, they should remain that sleeping giant.

I'd love for Georgetown (and St. John's) to return to mattering, but from Providence's standpoint given all the factors, that seems pretty awful.
