Pac 12 has a $250M war chest and even if Sac State (or Montana or N Dakota State) goes to MWC they’ll have at least $100M in money from Pac 12 to help pay down the costs. MWC is going to have no choice but to add from FCS most likely.

Shame that UNM hasn't been a name I've seen mentioned as part of the new PAC-12, but they really don't throw money at anything but basketball and I've read they're way behind in terms of athletics funding.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

Deck chairs on the Titanic, which would be very much in line with how the PAC has operated for the last decade.

Is anyone else having trouble with ESPN notifications? I don’t think I’ve gotten any for months.

And I have notifications on in both Settings and the ESPN App.

I mean, that's gonna go down as one of the best wins in Big House history.

But, wow. If USC doesn't allow those 3 big plays, that game is a 14 point spread the other way.

Now, with that said... Really really proud of that team for keeping their shit together after the Donovan fumble. That really could've been a dagger.

Now the Orji offense can settle in and hopefully be a little more dynamic in the passing game.

One thing I noticed over the summer and going into camp... I think this team "likes" Orji. There were a lot of positive comments about him and my hunch is that starting that other dude kind of fucked up the team's psyche.

Even last year, there was a lot of feelings-ball going on (self-inflicted, sure) and they tended to like rallying against an Us vs. Them vibe. Slightly different circumstance, but felt like this team was rallying around Orji today.

Will Johnson being hurt fucking sucks. I hope it's nothing season-ending. He got rolled on that missed tackle and my guess is a fucked up shoulder.

ETA - Sherrone says it was just a stinger.

Now we just need Colston Loveland to get healthy.

One of JMU's freshman is a kid I coached (and drove to games/practice) for a bunch of years. Lightning fast and really good kid. He was one of the last cuts from the JV soccer team as a freshman (spring sport for public schools in VA). Decided to play football and run track). It worked out really well for him (2nd team all state and 3x national qualifier in hurdles).

I think his older brother walked onto the Clemson football team this past year and played in the spring game but does not appear to be on the roster this fall.

Cal loses to FSU in the ACC.

I was hoping my schools could start a collective 12-0.

They should have won. Dominated the yardage, but the kicker missed a couple field goal attempts.

So, just tooling around on The Athletic and they have an article on CFP bubble teams. Quick read, but down at the bottom in the Keep an Eye On section of teams, both Army and Navy make the list.

Which, you know, pretty far down the list (behind folks like Liberty, Boise St. UNLV, etc.)

But here's the funny little What If... Let's say one or both of these guys can beat Notre Dame and make it to the Army-Navy game undefeated. (And you look at the schedules and... Not completely bonkers.)

Here's the rub: The Army-Navy game is on Dec. 14... The CFP selection show is on Dec. 8... That might set up a very weird set of circumstances.

CHAOS! I always root for chaos.... Unless it fucks with my team.

This happened a decade or so ago with Navy though that was only for the G5 NYD bowl so the stakes are quite a bit higher this time. I have to think they have a contingency for this situation.

I mean, maybe they have a plan?

What would that plan actually be? Do you post an "if, then" scenario on Dec 8? Like, if Navy goes 12-0 they get the #12 slot over (insert other undefeated G5 team).

I know it's a silly hypo at this point to burn too much time on...

That’s what they did last time. The field is set by committee so it’s easy enough theoretically. If Navy wins they’re #12. If not it’s UNLV (or whoever obvs). Sucks a bit to have to wait it out but any team in that situation is practicing still anyway and can prep for seed #5 and their bowl opponent.

Huzzah, thanks bronto.

Fascinating, really. Looks like the did lobby, initially, for the "if, then" scenario, which would've left the #5 seed having to prepare for 2 teams.

Seems like the right decision, given how many eyeballs they get for that standalone game and the fact that the odds of one of the service academies goes undefeated is relatively slim. But, mostly... $$$

Sorry, bri, I somehow missed your post.

I have a limited brain, so that relatively simple solution seemed complicated. :-)

But, still, you go back to that being kind of unfair to the #5 seed.

Yeah the contingency is too convoluted I guess so makes sense they don’t count it. It also doesn’t count towards AAC standings/title game too so whatever.

UNLV QB, who has helped lead the team to a 3-0 start, is sitting out/redshirting the rest of the season because folks didn't fulfil NIL promises.

Don't blame him, frankly. This is now a straight up business and if folks aren't getting paid, this is the result.

Also a good example of the continued Wild West nature of all this. Sign a damn contract ffs.
