Lawyers: Aren't "highly unusual moves" by a judge grounds for appeal?

Re: Real or The Onion?
Typically not for the prosecution in a criminal case, because if there is a not guilty verdict, retrial isn’t an option on appeal because of double jeopardy.

Even in cased where the judge made egregious errors? (and I don't know if he did in this case, but generally?)

Re: Real or The Onion?
You'd have to lobby for a mistrial before the verdict I would think. Once the jury gives its verdict, any not guilty is set in stone.pruitt2 wrote: Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:24 pm Even in cased where the judge made egregious errors? (and I don't know if he did in this case, but generally?)
I don't know. What are you asking me for? Oh, you weren't?
Maybe there's a lawyer around here.

Oakley Introduces Line Of Sunglasses For Front Of Head
FOOTHILL RANCH, CA—In an effort to market “something a little bit different” to diehard fans of its lifestyle brand, sports apparel company Oakley unveiled a new line of sunglasses Monday specifically designed for wear on the front of the head. “We’re excited to expand into eyewear with these sleek new performance sunglasses, which have the same look and feel as your favorite pair of Oakleys, but are built for shielding your eyes instead of the back of your head,” said Oakley spokesman Brock Shannon, demonstrating how to correctly position the shades so they rest atop the nose rather than on spiky blond-tipped hair or the base of a smooth bald skull. “Whether you’re on your speedboat, on your Jet Ski, or simply on your Bluetooth in the parking lot of a local Chili’s, these bad boys can withstand the absolute sunniest conditions. Just make sure the holographic orange lenses cover your eyes, and there’ll be no more squinting under the shade of your meaty hand.” In response to concerns from longtime customers, Shannon later clarified that the new Oakleys would not interfere with the old ones already on the backs of their heads, confirming that they could wear both pairs at the same time.

Not sure what this is in response to, but I'm sure it's something funny.

I don't know of anything specific, I think its just mocking the conservatives who go on social media and Fox News to complain they've been cancelled.

I was assuming they aren't really banned since it's their official Twitter handle posting on Twitter.mister d wrote: Thu Apr 21, 2022 1:10 pm I don't know of anything specific, I think its just mocking the conservatives who go on social media and Fox News to complain they've been cancelled.

Maybe would have been LA Gear or something more absurd from The Onion but that's a good one.

Tremendous lede:
Circling the words “dead soon” for emphasis, Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) reportedly used a whiteboard Wednesday to explain to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) why the public office held by Feinstein for 30 years belonged to Porter now.

Re: Real or The Onion?
I learned to love Channing Tatum thanks to his own performance in 21 Jump Street so maybe this isn’t completely nuts.

Did you hate all devastatingly handsome men before that or just Channing Tatum?
