I think he played almost every instrument, too. The Wind is just his touring band (for now).

Sure, but then give yourself / your project a damn name. St. Vincent, Father John Misty, Beirut, Tame Impala, etc …

EXCEPTIONS:
Sufjan Stevens (more unique than if he made something up)
PJ Harvey (you just assume it’s a dude)
Imogen Heap (could be a band name or a human name)
Kurt Vile (ridiculous)

Can you conceive of an alternate universe where everything is exactly the same but alt-mister d thinks band/project names for a singular artist are pretentious?

Speaking of FJM I like his new disco-ish epic single. In fact I think I like just about every song of his that I hear but I never bother to dive into his albums.

Of course. Just use "professional gamer" and we're already there.

Pretty much everyone I know has the same FJM path, although I'm not sure if there are more steps down the road:
1. This is a good song
2. Huh, its the Fleet Foxes guy ... weird name
3. This is another good song
4. Man, he really seems like a dick
5. Fuck, I like most everything he's doing ... am I a fan?
6. Wait, maybe its not ego, its self-loathing self-mockery?
7. Ok, I'm officially a fan but I reserve the right to say I was actually right about him in the beginning and just liked the music

Hilarious, I read D’s post and was surprised he didn’t go the other way. A band name for a single person is ridiculous.

I heard both Stormy by Classics IV and Sunny by Bobby Hebb within 2 or 3 songs of each other on the supermarket’s always in the background radio station and I wish I could remember the song(s) in between because it seems too intentional.

Haven't listened but I'm expecting this to be a bookend for Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt"?

I forgot to post anything else in the Live Music thread after I got home last week, but both The Flaming Lips and Weezer were great. Wayne Coyne's hair is incredible (see above).

The Flaming Lips closed their set with that song (and beware fake news in there, the balloons said "FUCK YEAH PHILADELPHIA"

Speaking of Father John Misty above, there's some "live listening party" on spotify at 3:00 today. I'm signed up despite having no idea what this means or why he'd be doing it at noon his time on a Tuesday.

I finally got a chance to listen to it yesterday. Listening to it while grocery shopping probably wasn't ideal, I can confirm, that yes, it does indeed slap.
