NFL Week 9
The Tennessee Titans and their 7 fans won't have Ken Wisenhunt to kick around anymore.
With Mike Mularkey getting 5 days to prepare for Brees and Company in the Dome, New Orleans will be the Survivor pick this week, right?

They're only a half-game out of first place!

One week closer to Romo coming back to lead the 'Boys back to the Superbowl!!!
Re: NFL Week 9
Does it seem to you that Run DMC is infinitely better at football than Randle?Staubach wrote:One week closer to Romo coming back to lead the 'Boys back to the Superbowl!!!

Re: NFL Week 9
Well... no shit. Talent has never been McFadden's problem, but rather a) injury history, and b) playing on the Raiders. Randle is half a step better than replacement player at best.

Re: NFL Week 9
I agree. That's why I'm blown away that he wasn't named starter at the beginning of the season.

Johnny Fucking Football on Thursday night.
I'm pretty sure (without taking a couple of seconds to look it up) that these same two teams played on Thursday night this same week (calendar week if not season week) last year.

I think so too. That game Leah Still was in the owner's box, and the Red Rifle had his yearly Daltonpocalypse.

I don't know the exact week but I was there and it was Andy Dalton's worst game in the history of games.rass wrote:Johnny Fucking Football on Thursday night.

Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.
Re: NFL Week 9
Talking about Whisenhunt for a second. He's 2-30 in his last 32 games where he didn't have 8 months to prepare for.

Re: NFL Week 9
I think McFadden generally sucks when he's not injured. He has Trent Richardson disease when it comes to finding holes.

Yeah, that's not accurate.

Re: NFL Week 9
He's had one game this year where he was good. He's not very good. You just think he is because his name is Darren McFadden. He's a big strong fast stiff who quite often either doesn't see the hole or isn't able to change direction and make his way through it.

Right now Cincy is still consensus.
I'm conflicted. I generally don't take the consensus, but I hate betting on or against a team that just fired their coach. I may take Cincy because I like Thursday games and if I lose, since it's double elim and everyone else has a loss, I'll still be in good shape.

Maybe. I don't know. He ran really good against a Seattle D that didn't have to pay much attention to the passing game.Gunpowder wrote:He's had one game this year where he was good. Re: NFL Week 9
The AFC West has to be disappointed that the Broncos didn't get the Joe Thomas deal done. Would have given No. 1 and No. 2 for him.
Not that Denver isn't already playing for this year, but damn.

Any day now, new Lions coach. Probably just working out the details that give him full control.L-Jam3 wrote:Talking about Whisenhunt for a second. He's 2-30 in his last 32 games where he didn't have 8 months to prepare for.

And, for honorable mention, I think Trent Baalke will be a fall guy in San Francisco.
And, they really ought to fire the owners in Cleveland, Indianapolis and San Francisco, too.

If Jim Harbaugh were still there, I think that team would be a mess but maybe have a 3-4 record.
They have nobody left from their 2012 draft. Not one guy!!!!

Still wrapping my mind around Whisenhunt being 6-44 in his last 50 games prior to being fired.

I read a couple items yesterday that have me thinking Paraag Marathe should be joining him, too, but that he's too buddy-buddy with Jed for that to happen.sancarlos wrote:And, for honorable mention, I think Trent Baalke will be a fall guy in San Francisco.

Here are the Browns First Round picks since 2011: Phil Taylor (out of league, 7 sacks in 4 years in Cleveland), Trent Richardson, Brandon Weeden, Barkevious Mingo (doesn't start on a really bad defence), Justin Gilbert (bad attitude, relegated to special teams), Manziel, Danny Shelton (starts - part of the league's worst run defence) Cameron Erving (who rarely sees the field as the team is not sure what his best position is.)
Brutal.

True - I did call for Caldwell to be the first coach fired... little did I know that he'd be the last one standing in Detroit.rass wrote:Pruitt's prognostication skills have their limits.Pruitt wrote:If we had a "first GM Fired" pool, Ray Farmer would be a shoo-in to win.

Johnny football doing Johnny football things. Not perfect but keeps plays alive. No reason to not see how he plays over remainder of season. Don't even mind the hit he took on scramble early third. He was trying to get first down.

His head coaching career has 8 games left. The new GM whoever it is will make his first job be firing Caldwell if Martha Ford doesn't beat him to it on Black Monday.Pruitt wrote:True - I did call for Caldwell to be the first coach fired... little did I know that he'd be the last one standing in Detroit.rass wrote:Pruitt's prognostication skills have their limits.Pruitt wrote:If we had a "first GM Fired" pool, Ray Farmer would be a shoo-in to win.

Isn't basically the entire staff new? I'd think he'd be 'safe' until the end of the season. I saw someone tweet the other day that it's been like 40 years since a HC in Detroit left and was hired again as a HC. Unreal.brian wrote:

I am not a fan of the Red Wings or Pistons, but I have a soft spot for the Lions, I suppose for feeling bad for Barry, and having to suffer through the Stoney Case error.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

I saw that, and there was a correction - Dick Jauron moved to Buffalo to for three and a half years of punting from the opponent's 40.Rush2112 wrote:I saw someone tweet the other day that it's been like 40 years since a HC in Detroit left and was hired again as a HC. Unreal.

Sort of a technicality since he was only an interim coach after Mariucci got fired in-season.Pruitt wrote:I saw that, and there was a correction - Dick Jauron moved to Buffalo to for three and a half years of punting from the opponent's 40.Rush2112 wrote:I saw someone tweet the other day that it's been like 40 years since a HC in Detroit left and was hired again as a HC. As for Caldwell the only reason he isn't gone with Lewand and Mayhew is that someone actually has to coach the team. They're already three coaches down from the guys they fired two weeks ago. No, Caldwell is done as soon as there isn't games to be played. The new GM will want his own guys. That's understandable.

Re: NFL Week 9
Bolden time I guess. Looks pretty good. Hits the hole hard. Somebody said too hard and might be right but we shall see. I prefer not white though he did impress in a scat back role. I rather the power running with blount and Bolden. Guy made a nice grab so maybe Bolden gets reps in a passing type game plan.
