This thread is the confluence of my having just filled out some paperwork and the current discussion in the Confessions thread.

I cross my z's and my 7's.

My last name ends in -ts and I wrap around the tail of the s to cross the t. Fancy!

I also cross my 7's sometimes when I'm mailing something and want to make sure it's clear as possible. A habit from spending time in Europe where they put long tails on their 1's so they almost look like uncrossed 7's.

Every time I sign something that isn't an official document (card, etc) I make a little swoosh under my signature. Kinda like a long swooshy "Z". I have no idea why, or when I started doing this.

-Pretty much always use ampersands
-I tend to put the bottom hook on my lowercase t's, which came from using my middle initial in my email address and wanting to make sure nobody skipped it or thought it was a plus sign.
-The once-discussed periods in shorthand dates
-I write 1s, 2s, 4s, 6s, 7s, and 9s multiple ways and can somehow know when I've been using one for too long before switching it up

Unless i'm going for speed, I'll do crosswords in lowercase and fix any little imperfections. It's madness.

Oh yeah, I use periods as the separators when I write out phone #s.

Was anyone else taught in school that a figure-eight was the only "right" way to write an 8 and drawing two small circles was somehow an abomination? Because fuck that, I've been going with two circles as long as I've been able to get away with it.

I sign my name with a really big S at the start.

Nowadays, that's about all my signature is - everything after that is a scribble if it's on paper, or a line if it's on a pad at the checkout counter.

I'm big on the crossed 7 and Z also.

I wish I could bring myself to write "13 January" instead of "January 13," but that's just too pompous even for me.

Cross my 7s and Zs also. I write a's just like it is Times New Roman. All notes are a mixture of cursive and print/chicken scratch. My signature is M___|___ M-|>____ and the last line goes up at a bit of an angle. Under that line I have been putting a dot for no reason what so ever.

I've been crossing my 7s since I was a kid. I had a teacher suggest it to me since my 1s and 7s looked so similar. I also cross the Zeds.

And when I am signing a contact, I always put a period after my name.

16 out of 17 times, my signature on a receipt are the same scribbles that I know are somehow mine, but no one would ever be able to determine whose name it is. The other time, I sign it as perfect as I can for some reason.

I was shocked when on a trip to Scotland people actually looked at my signature and questioned me about it because it was just a scribble while my passport signature actually contained all the letters of my name.

I write the number "5" similar to how you would write the letter "S", but in reverse (I start at the bottom left and do it in one motion.)

Sometimes I'll write phone numbers descending/ascending as old-style figures. Couple that with periods or bullets (or blank spaces!) as separators and you'll look real fancy.

I was made fun of in grade school because my hand writing was "girl hand writing." I just happen to have had a mom with outstanding handwriting and watched her write and copied what she did. My handwriting to this day is really legible for a dude.

My middle initial, J, is, when writing my "payroll signature" more stylized than the J in my first name, which is more traditional of the cursive way to write it.

Thanks to the military I write the day "13 Jan 2017" instead of "January 13, 2017." It's easier and no coma is necessary. Bask in my pomposity, Steve.

Also, I'm very, very sure I should have written with my left hand when learning to write. I'm left hand (and left eye) dominant, but I write and hold a fork/spoon with my right hand. My "off hand" writing is very good.

I can also write mirrored because my brain is special.

I'm in the slash the Sevens and Zs club too. I slash the Zero on occasion when I'm feeling it.

I have a script of my initials only with the 3, with some squirrelly tail on the 3. I'll upload it if I can. Also I always use serifs on Cap Is and Js. The obviously don't come up often, but always on the III of my signature. Because I played a veritable shit-ton of Risk growing up, and back in the day the armies were represented by Roman numerals for I, III, V, and X. All with the top and bottom serifs.

For me, I think I just started doing when writing notes about the software I was working on, just to keep track of the difference between 0 and o. Been doing it for years now.

You'd blow his mind if you bought him a Danish-Norwegian keyboard....because it would still be wrong.
