Man City and Chelsea are playing this week? Holy crap. I'm sure there will be a lot of effort in those games.
How long until their owners complain some more about their players having to do national team duty in the summer?

And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I think that schedule is a little wrong. Stoke City plays at Columbus Crew on July 24:

Yeah, that's ridiculous. Shoudl be some kind of summer break. Especially in non cup years.Steve of phpBB wrote:Man City and Chelsea are playing this week? Holy crap. I'm sure there will be a lot of effort in those games.

Brazil v. Portugal in September @ Gillette on Sept. 10. This is the same day as the USMNT’s World Cup Qualifier against Mexico in Columbus. Tickets for the friendly will go on sale next Tuesday, July 9.
Also according to Ives. Messi has screwed up big time. Canceled a Charity Match in LA one day before the game (he was in Lima playing in another charity match). 45K tickets were sold. There is another match planned for Chicago but likely will be cancelled (lots of players pulled out including Boca and Bradley).

Bandwagon fan of the 2023 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!
Re: 2013 Soccer carpet bagger thread
Messi game had lots of people back out. But they went ahead with the game in Chicago using some local amateur players. Well one of them scored a silly goal.

Apparently Leo backed out of meeting with folks who had paid $2k for the honor of good seats, and the opportunity to meet him. Haven't heard a story like that about Ronaldo. Perhaps he's not so golden, after all.

Can this be the Gold Cup thread too?
Canada lost to fucking Martinique!!!!! Was no fluke either, Martinique dominated the majority of the play.
Canada has hired a Spanish coach, he can't get here soon enough.

Temper your enthusiasm - he's not exactly Del Bosque.degenerasian wrote:Can this be the Gold Cup thread too?

Do you consider a long international managerial CV a sign of a respected football person in global demand, or someone bouncing from club to club selling hope to a bunch of desperate suckers?

AS Roma goofs around against Toronto FC on August 7. You can witness the fun for $60-$150.

But Michael Bradley will be there. And Roma will have something to prove after losing the MLS allstars on 7/31.Pruitt wrote:AS Roma goofs around against Toronto FC on August 7. You can witness the fun for $60-$150.

At the Norwich City match last night:
Re: 2013 Soccer carpet bagger thread
Who won the match last night, PDX? Did you perchance notice how well Wes Hoolahan played for the canaries?

Re: 2013 Soccer carpet bagger thread
Timbers won 1:0. Hoolahan played well. Hit some nice thru balls that you never see among the typical MLS skillset. (Always surprised how well the euro's can adapt to turf and not be spraying balls out of bounds.)Sabo wrote:Who won the match last night, PDX? Re: 2013 Soccer carpet bagger thread
Thanks for the report, sir.
I might need to break down and buy a Norwich City kit with Hoolahan on the back.
