Company closes between Christmas and New Year’s. First time and it’s kind of nice…only downside is I think they use it as an excuse to offer less vacation and other holidays.

Officially on PTO, but am keeping up with various Teams chats. We have our v1.1 software undergoing validation runs that started on 12/22, so keeping an eye on how they are progressing (full data runs take about 7 1/2 days to complete).

Yeah, ideally I'd be working on those projects that always end up shoved to the side in my normal day-to-day.

That's where I'm at. Tuesday/Wednesday working on things I can't get to when other people are around then just monitoring email and chat on Thursday/Friday.

I started today with four meetings and three have been canceled by others and one by me, so that's where I'm at. Hopefully more of the same tomorrow and Thursday (we're off Friday and Monday).

We are off between Christmas and New Years as an office - due back on 1/3 but I came in yesterday and I am here today and will likely be in tomorrow. Will take off last few days this week (quinn back from Europe tomorrow night) and then will come back in on Monday. 12-day trial set to begin late March into April and it is really past go-time to get ready for that...

Nope. Been off since July to focus on school. Graduated earlier this month.

I'll put together a resumé in January and then apply to jobs at Raytheon thereafter.

I'm in this boat. Last week my manager said she was cancelling our weekly check-in call for this week, as she didn't want to bother me during what she predicted would be a very quiet week. I assume she doesn't want to be tied to her desk at any point this week. She forwarded a funny article on something we discussed. Reading that article is the most taxing thing I've done all day.

Getting a ton of stuff done in my empty office this week. Phones are quiet, nobody poking their head in to chat, perfect. I do have a vape pen by my desk that is getting used occasionally, but I've been productive as hell.

Had a 5 minute long zoom final divorce hearing from underneath a roller coaster at Busch Gardens today. My client logged in from Universal Studios for it. Anything to save a few bucks on 2022 taxes.

Had a two-hour Zoom deposition this morning, then editing and proofreading most of the afternoon, though the latter part of that was done on the sofa while the little ones played with Legos and Hot Wheels. Tomorrow I'll try to get some editing done around a trip to Disney on Ice, then Thursday will be spent hiking most of the day near the Appalachian Trail. Friday I'll probably be back on Zoom, hopefully for a short one.

See, the problem here is that it's a pre-school show.

So even if Ryder is decomposing, it's unusual for a character to have lines of dialogue that are more than two sentences long.

Let me demonstrate my craft...

===============
Flies <Buzz> happily around Ryder's face, tentatively exploring his rictus grin. Rubble, Zuma and Marshall watch wide-eyed from the doorway.

ZUMA: Gee, Ryder's still not moving.

Marshall's tummy <Rumbles>. Rubble and Zuma smile.

MARSHALL: My tummy is singing its hungry song.

RUBBLE: And it's getting louder!

The three Pups watch as a Fly <buzzes> past them before landing on Ryder's head. Rubble, Zuma and Marshall lick their lips in unison.

ZUMA: Do you think we should, you know...

MARSHALL: Well, Ryder did promise to always keep us fed.

RUBBLE: (Happy Bark) On the double pups!

Rubble and Zuma race over to Ryder. Flies scatter as they lean in. In his hunger and excitement, Marshall slides past Ryder and the Pups and crashes into Ryder's "funtime" table. Ryder's special pipe crashes to the floor and <shatters>

Rubble looks up from Ryder's cheek, turns his head and smiles.

RUBBLE: Oh Marshall!

MARSHALL/RUBBLE/ZUMA: (Laughter) (Chewing)

FADE OUT

Took off yesterday and today, my boss took off TH and FRI.

I have to edit some web content tomorrow, which will take me around 30 minutes. Some idiot put a meeting on for tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to suggest we cancel it.

My MIL had COVID last weekend, so we are having a brunch tomorrow to exchange gifts. I'll bring my laptop in case something pops off.

(The freezing temps = lots and lots of pipe breaks, so I might have to edit some social media posts... minutes of work, potentially.)

Not at all.

Illustrators and writer almost never come into contact - traditionally, many shows had the illustrations and storyboarding done in house (ie - in the animation company's office) while the bulk of the actual work was done in overseas ("cheaper") studios.

Nowadays, pretty much all of the animating done by a big company (like the one contracted to do "Paw patrol") is done in house.

Don't leave us hanging, what's the theory? Ryder is tripping and the entire show is his hallucination that he can talk to dogs?

Ryder is a depressed ~30 year old addict and the episodes are his drug-induced "memories" of the only times he was truly happy, which was with animals as a child. His parent(s) were either unavailable or uninterested which is why the only adults in the show are kind older people who live in the same town. He didn't have many friends so the rare times where he's with other kids are probably isolated events that he's held onto decades later and made much bigger than they were. Jake might be an idolized older cousin he met a few times and who treated Ryder well.

We moved last week, so I took this week as PTO to settle. I know this is a shock, but moving to a different continent is a pain in the ass. I don’t recommend doing so during the holidays. Though we did fucking luck out on weather. Turns out we had a three day window with the temps warm enough both here and there to ship the dogs and we landed right in it. Europe was freezing the week before we left, now the US is freezing. Needed take off and landing temps above 32 to ship the pups.
