I think 99.9 percent of coaches and 80 percent of ADs would rather have a 4 seed than a 5 seed in the new format. (Though I’ll grant the 5 seed will end up winning 95+ percent of the time since it’ll usually be facing a Group Of Five school.)

ETA: it's also the four highest-ranked conference champions. that's splitting hairs a bit, but it's not exclusive to the four power conferences
Nope, not splitting, good point.

So, if Colorado State finishes fourth in the national rankings, they get a top four seed, unless New Mexico or some other MWC team is ranked above them.

They have to be a conference champion but in your scenario if they’re 4th they would get a bye.

ETA: The top four seeds all have to be conference champions to be clearer.

right

but it's an easier compromise to make when it's the only round at home venues

Guys, I hope you recognize that was a joke.

It’s really not that ridiculous. In the last 20 years at least 2 G5 schools probably would have gotten byes (Boise State and Cincinnati). In fact freed from having to leave a P4 school out some G5 schools might get a better chance at a bye.

Hopefully, he gets to show some old friends what he can do in his first game (at tOSU).

And, hopefully, he'll get to show me in his second game (at Rutgers).

That's great.

And I sense a swampup in the making.

CMU doesn’t play Akron this year so don’t have to root for him to miss any kicks this year.

I was worried no one would offer a scholarship, so I was almost more relieved than anything else. They brought him in with three different guys on the roster who kicked last year, so I expect he'll win the job.

I hope Akron improves. I would like for him to play in more winning games over his four active seasons than he watched his redshirt freshman year.

But kids love Bronco Mendenhall!

(I know Bronco is a pretty good coach and UNM is never going to be a power, but they really need to get the fuck away from hiring only guys that previously coached or played at UNM.)

I was right about that USC-Texas game!
