Re: Your Alternate Birth Name
Somehow my parents were woefully unprepared with a name. As a second child (and planned), that’s kind of surprising. According to my mom, my dad kept throwing out joke names like Rastus, and the hospital was ready to release me as “Baby Boy [last name]” if my parents didn’t choose a name immediately.

Re: Your Alternate Birth Name
With our first, we went in not knowing gender with a pretty set girl name and a possible debate on the boy name so we kinda lucked out. I know two people who went over 48 hours unable to name a kid, both boys.

Re: Your Alternate Birth Name
We [my wife] had a girls name picked out long before we met (female version of her grandfather’s name), and his name would be the middle name for a boy. Boys name was a process. We found out gender early, so had months to discuss. She had me go through Arsenal and USMNT rosters circa 2005. She didn’t like Adebayor or Eboue, so we were down to Cole and Landon. OBGYN asked us potential names, and he responded with, “Landon? That’s a horrible name!” So we went Cole. Should have gone Kolo (Toure). Ironically, the girl’s name is Lauren, and Arsenal had a one-named player called Lauren with an accent over the “e.”mister d wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2024 10:26 am With our first, we went in not knowing gender with a pretty set girl name and a possible debate on the boy name so we kinda lucked out. Re: Your Alternate Birth Name
We had Asher Gray for a boy and realized we loved the name so much that we decided to make it a girl's name but with a more feminine name as a middle name.

Re: Your Alternate Birth Name
We had an easier time with our kids. I knew we were using a J (i don't mean a Jew) name to honor my late father.
If my oldest was a girl she would have been named either Jerra (dad's name was Jerry) or Jara. Jack was a name that we passed on at first, but I heard someone else say it when they were trying to think of names and we fell in love with it. It isn't a nickname Jack is his given name. He does have two middle names bc my wife's grandmother died while my wife was pregnant with Jack. We had planned on honoring one late grandmother already so we honored both of her grandmothers w middle names.
Max's name would have been Jerra or Jara if a girl. Max isn't named for anyone in English, but his Hebrew name honors lost loved ones.

Re: Your Alternate Birth Name
There was no alternate gender name that I am aware of but I do know I was going to be named Seth (I've never gotten a straight answer as to where my actual name Zachary came from). It's odd because there have been more than a handful of people over the years who thought my name was Seth when they first met or got to know me.

Can't remember what I would have been named, but if we'd had a girl, she would have been Lola (after my wife's grandmother) Kate (family middle name for girls for many years).

Mai
My dad loves that name, my mom teases him that it's the name of one of his ex-girlfriends.
So I named one of the twins Mai for him. Sophia Mai
