Re: Philip Seymour Hoffman
I consider The Big Lebowski to be one of my favorite movies of all time. Only today did I learn that Brandt was played by Hoffman.
Very, very sad relapse.

Well, enjoy and perhaps we'll see you again some time, Dude.

What a fuckin' actor. What a waste. Stay away from the needle.

Re: Philip Seymour Hoffman
Fuck. Despite his wonderful record as an actor, I anticipated many many more great performances to come. Dammit. r.i.p.

Re: Philip Seymour Hoffman
One more selfish reaction to PSH's sad death. He claimed to have been sober for >20years, a claim I accept at face value. He relapsed after that long interval. With heroin.
I'm sober >18 years. I'm just sayin'. To myself. A very sad thank you, PSH.

Great actor. Could carry or support. some guys won't do that.
One milkshake to bring all the boys to the yard and in the darkness bind them.
Re: Philip Seymour Hoffman
I liked his movie's where he is not the lead. Lebowski, His Art Howe in Moneyball, and his role in Along Came Polly is just top notch.
Re: Philip Seymour Hoffman
His mush mouth character in Scent Of A Woman will always get me.
The derogatory pics relating to him are coming out in force too, btw.

Re: Philip Seymour Hoffman
Why does his role in Punch Drunk Love get no mention anywhere? He was fantastic in that role. I loved the movie, but I think I am in a very small minority on that. My sister saw it and walked out of the theater after numerous people left before her. She is in Georgia, so that makes sense.

So sad. Great actor. I particularly loved him in Almost Famous, The Talented Mr. Ripely, and Big Lebowski. Need to see Punch Drunk Love.

I want to feel sorry, but I've reached the point where if you even fucking consider experimenting with heroin, I consider you a dumbass of the dumbest assery. Would you experiment with cyanide?

I pile on tabloid journalism as much as anyone in here. Howevah, on occasion, such as a sordid death of a celeb I actually care about, I want my tabloid treatment. I like chocolate candy and ice cream as much as anyone; I just don't eat them for dinner every night.
No one does celeb tabloid better than the Daily Mail:
Forty-nine bags of heroin and 20 needles in Philip Seymour Hoffman's apartment: New details of scene discovered by heartbroken assistant, 28, who found newly-separated actor's body
One of my recovering junkie friends gave me a call yesterday, mentioned she had heard that fentanyl-laced dope is currently on the street, and that people are dying as a result. (The things I miss out learning by rarely going to AA meetings anymore.) Apparently PSH got some of that shit. Needle and the damage done.

I learned at my HS reunion last fall that a kid I knew OD'd on fentanyl laced heroin.howard wrote:One of my recovering junkie friends gave me a call yesterday, mentioned she had heard that fentanyl-laced dope is currently on the street, and that people are dying as a result. My wife has a co-worker whose daughter babysat PSH's kids (I'm not sure how regularly). The picture of him with the kids in that Daily Mail article is rough.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

Yep, rough. His kids are cute.

Re: Philip Seymour Hoffman
I read an article about Camden, NJ a year or so ago that contained the line, from a heroin user: "whenever you hear about someone dying from dope, well, that's where you go to get your dope".

Yes. Still the first thing I think of (probably unfairly) when hearing his name. Disposable movie overall, but every minute Hoffman is on screen is gold.wlu_lax6 wrote:his role in Along Came Polly is just top notch.

Also, if you haven't seen The Savages already, do so.

Awesome tribute to PSH. I don't think I saw half of these movies but man, what an actor...
