Hard to be mad at that result for Man U. Arsenal was constantly in the box and probably should have won by 3 goals. Still, things look like going in the right direction overall.

I think Saka is becoming my favorite non-Liverpool player in the EPL
He's been my favorite player for 2 years now. I was watching the game with my parents. 30 seconds before his goal, I was explaining to my Mom that my daughter plays a very similar style as him, but he is a left-footed player on the right wing and my daughter is right footed and plays on the left. I explained that they like to take on a defender, cut inside and shoot with their dominant foot. 30 seconds later, "like what he just did there." I love when a player illustrates my point so clearly. From everything I've read and seen, he is just a special kid off the field, too. There was a great story about him after he missed the final PK in the Euro Finals. A neighbor posted a handwritten note of support, and Saka sent a handwritten note thanking the guy. It seems like he has very little ego and quietly works his ass off and isn't afraid of doing the dirty work defensively.

If you want an indication as to how bad Son Heung Min has been this season, that was just his third assist, and he's playing next to Harry Kane who has scored 18 goals this season.

Have faith.

Hojbjerg woke up around the 20th minute.

And shockingly, that is as good as I've seen Emerson look in a Spurs uniform.

It's like a practice jersey. I have a lot of problems with the yellow socks too. It's like a junior high kid picking the colours for his FIFA team.

Wife is an Everonian and I’m afraid that if they get relegated and the club is sold for scrap, it will dampen her interest in the club which would suck because we’ve enjoyed jaunts to the city to catch Everton and NUFC games at Legends or Mr. Dennehe’s (when it was open). It would be devastating having the newest state-of-the-art stadium in the league while playing in the Championship.

Richer or poorer. You made it through two relegations, it’ll be another shared experience.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I ain’t gonna say no to a rainy night in Stoke, but I’m not sure she’d get past the fact they won’t be playing on Saturday and Sunday every week. I told her I’m her guide for this sort of thing. It might have made things worse.

So the Toffees are officially for sale, and the price is north of £500 million? That seems incredibly cheap for a club with that much history, and good infrastructure.

Did you know that in addition to the TV revenue that the EPL clubs receive, they are also given "prize money" based on where they finish in the table? I didn't...

EPL Prize Money Structure

2.2 million pounds for position. So at the moment, Arsenal would stand to earn an extra 44 million, while Southampton would get 2.2 million.

Don't the relegated teams also get a "parachute payment" when they go go down?

Yep. I assume that's in addition to the 2.2m per spot in the table.

Current numbers...
Each club receives 55 percent of the amount that each Premier League team would collect under an equal share of broadcast revenue, reduced to 45 percent in the second year and 20 percent the year after that.

Based on the recent figures, that is said to be worth around £40m ($50m) in the first year, £35m ($43.7m) in the second and £15m ($18.7m) in the third.

Could probably go in the USMNT thread, too...

I'm seeing "breaking news" that McKinnie is headed to Leeds.

Jesse needs to keep that team out of the drop zone, man.

Everton selling Gordon is weird, right? Seems more like contingency planning for if they get relegated versus trying to avoid getting relegated?

He's one of those players who (IMO) gets hyped up and then sold for a ton of money, but who in fact isn't very good.

I could be wrong of course, but lets call it the "Ross Barkley Effect"

This makes sense. For clubs at that level I'm still at "I've heard of him so he must either be or have been good" and Gordon is too young to already be declined.

Also, don't think I mentioned, but I'm a mere one degree of separation from Everton's director of football (soccer) and may have already met him. One of my youngest's best friends (and the first family we met in town) is british and the wives are BFFs. I think he was at RBNJ before heading back to England to take the Everton job.

I know he's been unhappy but still pretty surprised to see Cancelo to Bayern. Not exactly a position of depth right now, unless they're going to trigger the buy option on Porro?

there was a rumor out there they had placed a bid on robinson, but seemed like it wasn't serious enough to get anything done today

I'm thinking this was expedited as Partey was injured on Friday and Lokonga was a complete disaster filling in. Odegaard was jumping up and down frantically screaming at Lokonga for being out of position and eventually committed a foul out of anger and to stop play to scream at Lokonga. And the goal came from Lokonga continually being out of position.
