I'd much sooner have an ascending 25yr old with less talent.

I understand now. Taking over your dad's mortgage company does not make you a good NBA gm. Just sit in the suite and watch, dick.
did you look up KD's stats before firing this off or nah

I am casually interested in how Ben Simmons plays the rest of the year since he is now in a very low-pressure situation. The Nets have virtually no expectations now and will likely slide down the East standings, but probably still make the play-in, as they are 7.5 games up on the 10th seed with 27 games to play. Not that a handful of minutes against the Bulls last night really means anything, but he looked comfortable and in control in helping the Nets put together a strong late second quarter push.

Some 6’ 2” white guy who was in the G-League just last week had the best night at the dunk contest since the Zach Levine-Aaron Gordon duel a few years back.

So what are y'all's thoughts on Zack Edey's NBA potential? If this were the 1980s, he'd be a lottery pick, no?

He has none. Too slow and no outside game. If anything he will be a 12th man if he is lucky

Mac McClung played at Georgetown for a couple years, then transferred to Texas Tech. He probably got more coverage in the lead-up to the dunk contest than the rest of his playing career. And now, "saved the dunk contest".

He was huge in high school due to social media. He pulled off a lot of amazing in-game dunks on the Appalachian youth of southwest Virginia.

I read a big article about him in the SF Chronic during the NBA preseason, when it appeared he might make the Warriors’ roster. But, he was their last cut. Interesting back-story, as noted above.

I vaguely recognize the name from his Georgetown years. He broke Allen Iverson’s VA high school scoring mark; he has at least some transferrable skills. Maybe like an Isaiah Thomas-Lite: a short guy with handle and hops.

I guess even Mark Eaton (7'4", 275 lbs) wasn't drafted until the 4th round when he came out of UCLA back in 1982.

But, as we all know, NBA play emphasizes different skills now than was the case when Eaton played.

Nope. He is a below average rebounder. His foot work is shoddy at best. He will be eaten alive on pick n rolls and pick n pops. Can't switch onto smaller guys.

I watched a lot of the pregame yesterday, but when the game started, I fell victim to TNT's marketing and started watching silicon valley again. To pour salt in the wound, I didn't watch it on TNT but rather HBO Max like an adult. Made it through 2.5 eps and just conked out. Food poisoning didn't make it worth it, per se, but dang what a great night's sleep.

I watched about 3 minutes of the all-star game. It was unwatcheable. Honestly, I'd rather watch the teams practice. I don't even like playing pickup in games like that. I'm guessing when it got the 4th quarter they actually tried at least a little on both ends. Honestly, Tatum should be embarrassed that he scored 55. That smacks of low ego to me. I'm pretty sure I could have gotten 12 if I'd wanted to.

It's not an isolated incident for Ja. And most of the reaction I'm reading is from people who are concerned about Ja and don't want him to hurt himself. That's not usually the case when Joe Redneck is showing off his weapons cache.

New troubling allegations surrounding the alleged pickup basketball brawl between Ja Morant and a teenage boy in July ... with the young hooper claiming the Memphis Grizzlies superstar flashed a gun at him during the altercation.

TMZ Sports broke the story in January -- Morant is accused of punching a 17-year-old boy after getting in an argument during a game at Ja's residence in Tennessee ... which resulted in a lawsuit filed in September.

According to the docs, the boy claimed he "accidentally" hit Ja in the face after throwing the ball in his direction ... and the All-Star guard retaliated by hitting him with a closed fist and knocking him to the ground.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that not only did the teen accuse Morant of punching him at least 12 times, resulting in a "large knot" on his head ... but the 23-year-old also went into his house and returned with a gun in his waistband -- with his hand on the weapon.

The boy told detectives Ja's dad, Tee, then yelled at him ... telling him to go back inside.

thanks for pointing that out. It almost got me.

This all sucks so hard - I cannot begin to try and explain just how important he is for the city of Memphis. That's a city that finds its one bit of common ground across white and black communities in the Grizzlies - and having a genuine star there who was embracing wanting to live in the city when they will never be able to get one through free agency is a big deal.

I hope his statement in the aftermath is genuine and he is really seeking help. There's no reason for this, on any level.
