Don't blame him, frankly. This is now a straight up business and if folks aren't getting paid, this is the result.

Also a good example of the continued Wild West nature of all this. Sign a damn contract ffs.

Knowing what I know of the UNLV athletic department I believe the kid and AD probably thought he wouldn’t call their bluff. Now the best case scenario for them is they pony up and have ruined their rep going forward. I have a buddy who works in the department and I’ll see if I can get any inside info.

link? (i believe you, of course, just curious to read)

UNLV and the NIL Collective is strongly denying the QBs claims, which... No contract makes this all very predictable.

Well, now... That's getting weird. Dude is the 4th leading rusher... how much was he promised, really? It's not like he was lighting the world on fire at NC State before transferring.

Is this just a guy seeing the wheels coming off and getting ahead of mayhem?

I know a little bit about how much guys get based on Big 5 basketball so I wouldn't be surprised if the 4th leading rusher (NC State transfer) got offered more than you'd think to go.

There will be many players who do the same thing in the immediate future, like, the next week. A player can appear in up to four games while still preserving a year of eligibility by redshirting.

yup; QB who is now at Maryland transferred from NC State a year ago. was going to be the starter after Devin Leary was injured the rest of the season but wanted to keep his redshirt and basically benched himself.

Washington lost a bunch of transfers after their coach left, and got thumped by Washington State, so suffice to say it’s quite a different team from last year’s.

So I’m supposed to get the full scoop Monday when we get together to watch the Lions game but apparently this kid was not very well-liked amongst his teammates and the general attitude was “if you don’t want to be here, fuck off” which seems borne out by this beat down of Fresno.

MI was up 21-3 at half and had a chance to turn this into a boat race in the 3Q and... Just not this in this team's current DNA. Wild 27-24 win where Minny got robbed of an onside kick that would've at the least allowed them to try to tie the game.

Orji was better today, but this team can't afford mistakes, which were aplenty in the 2nd half.

Two things:

* - As Klatt was all over, clock management at the end of the game was ATROCIOUS for MI. LIke... bad high school football level of clock work. Really shockingly bad.

* - The way last second stuff works at the end of half/games leads to some nonsense. The Hail Mary that led to the Gopher last second FG to tend the first half should've been reviewed. That dude dropped the ball. It was at least questionable/reviewable.

Dude plays every single offensive and defensive play. He’s a shutdown corner on defense, and in the first four games he had 37 receptions for 472 yards and 5 TDs. He’s their best player on both sides of the ball.

1) The Heisman Trophy doesn’t go to the best player in college football and never has. If so, Ndamukong Suh would have won the 2009 Heisman in a walk. His performance in the Big 12 title game that year is still the single-most impressive single game performance by a defensive player this century at least.

2) Playing both ways isn’t impressive or Heisman worthy in and of itself.

3) SOS matters. Beating up on Colorado State and Central Florida is fine but let’s see how Colorado does against the elite teams on their schedule. Since the Big 12 is largely middling garbage he better turn out against Utah and Oklahoma State.

4) Hey, there’s no real dominant player this year (so far) like Burrow or Williams in their Heisman seasons so who knows?

While we were waiting to get into the Rutgers game last night I noticed the group next to us had paper tickets, and I made a remark about it out loud (the stadium concessions are cash free so I was surprised). The dude was Schiano’s nephew and get just gets sent an envelope of tickets for every game to use if he can. He went to University of Delaware, not RU.

what
There’s lots of elite guys in CFB who could play both ways if their coaches let them. All you’re really doing is doubling your chances of getting injured.

Ohtani is amazing because he pitches and plays offense at an elite level, not because he does it at all. This seems self-evident.
