if you told me UK was a trap game for the winner following the Vandy-Bama tilt I would 99.99% of the time be hopeful we could hang with the Tide. As it is, hammer Vandy and the under I reckon.

Kentucky favored by 13.5. Clearly, Vegas is not on the Vandy bandwagon.

Starting tomorrow, my buddy and his wife are visiting from Seattle. He is originally from Ohio, and is a big Buckeye fan. So for at least one day, I am an Ohio State fan. We will get stoned, get drunk, and watch Ohio State v. Oregon (while the wives visit a local art and wine festival all afternoon.) Everybody wins!

Rough outing at The Birthplace. Getting smoked by a mid Wisconsin team is bad. At least it was a beautiful day to sit in the stands and boo.

UCLA next weekend for Family Weekend/Homecoming. Might get ugly if they lose that one, will test how much rope Schiano has. I wonder if the school currently on the search for both a President and an AD helps or hurts his staying power.

I expect you to stay up for every snap of the 11 p.m. ET game at USC on Oct. 25

There were people wandering around the tailgate scene today giving out flyers for travel packages to the USC game. If I hadn’t just booked the B1G XC championships…

BTW RU had 2(!) delay of game penalties today that took place on the first attempted snap after a Wisconsin kickoff.

UCLA is pretty bad this year and Schiano's history of being the head coach there for what is far and away their best run as a D-I program is going to keep him safe.

Dunno guys the knives were out for him in the papers today, and all of you are understandably unaware of the inside baseball here but as all longtime NJ college football fans know, once you start to lose the Newark Star-Ledger and the Bergen Record…

I'm curious as to why they expect something different from his first run as head coach. Did they not realize Schiano's success was built on the back of super-soft non-conference scheduling early to boost their record enough to make a bowl game by managing enough wins in a pretty weak Big East, only now, they're not in the Big East any more?

I was trying to be so over the top there to make it obvious I was fucking around, but to not fuck around I think everyone is aware of that and hoping the team can settle comfortably into the middle tier of the conference and it just isn’t happening, yet. And you cannot possibly have an easier conference schedule in this conference than they got this year.

Oh, I meant the columnists at the papers, as they should know the surrounding history and context.

As someone who also has a rooting interest in a team that squeaks into bowl games by starting off with a weak non-conference slate, when the coach is getting a hot seat, I always circle back to the question, "who would do better?"

This is an especially important question at a program like Rutgers (or to be fair, Syracuse). The limitations and headwinds of these jobs are fairly evident. A mid-major fan can always say “well, if we get the best FCS coach” there’s usually hope but even that guy needs to turn out to be a hidden genius to be a big winner at Rutgers. Shit, Indiana appears to have hit that jackpot with Cignetti and even if that’s true he’s still gone in two years when Michigan or UCLA dangles $18M a year in front of him.

The only article I actually read (it actually was the star ledger or their online incarnation) blamed him for how sloppy the team was in yesterday’s loss but it didn’t call for his head. The fans in our section were getting Chris Ash flashbacks, but no one wants him out. Yet.

With how some of the power conferences' schedules are getting more difficult due to realignment, I am curious to see if we eventually reach a point where no one from the power four conferences who makes the playoff has fewer than two losses. Obviously, this seems more likely in the Big Ten and SEC because almost every week seems like a brutal matchup, but it's just something that has my interest.

My mistake, I was under the impression F1 was full of cars going very fast. I didn't realize it was a school zone race.

No need to get testy. Just noting that NASCAR is huge in Georgia, while probably very few players could name even one F1 driver.

Georgia has had at least 25 arrests or citations for speeding, reckless driving or racing since the fatal crash of Jan. 15, 2023 that killed offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy.
