Yeah, we rerouted back from Europe to Richmond where my youngest son and mother in law were, (and where my wife's aunt lives).

Ah, sorry, I lost the plot when you were headed to NYC.

(We've gone back and forth about RVA... You provided some awesome tips... Great little city.)

I still found it odd that both of my wives who I met in Houston were born in Richmond.

I feel like I've said this here before, maybe in response to what you've said, but one of my best friends dated consecutive girls with the same first and last name.

Yeah, thought we were going to get stuck in NYC, but when TPA closed Delta cancelled our whole flight, including the Milan to JFK leg. We got out a day later and paid to come here after Delta kept trying to send us to an airport in Florida, arriving yesterday.

My bike has been in the shop for a couple of weeks, so I haven't been doing the bike commute into the office.

Got it back on Saturday, and just in time for a) The Big Dark, and b) pounding rain this morning. Yuck.

Amazing you say that. We almost went there just last night! But, my mother changed her mind and lobbied for The Range, instead, so we went there.

The Gulf is definitely getting another hurricane. Predictions are it won't be big or bad, but Rafael seems headed for Texas and Louisiana.

It hasn’t rained around here since the end of September. We saw two separate brush fires along highways the last couple of days, one in the nowhereland between NYC and Yonkers and the other in CT.

Yeah, we're back to drought watch here in the DMV. I put down grass seed three weeks ago and it has rained once, briefly, in that time.

The drought is kicking up fires in NJ. This one is about 10 miles north as the crow flies from my hometown. (That’s the Walt Whitman bridge heading to NJ).

There hasn't been any rain since mid-September. All the fallen leaves are ideal tinder right now, and we're not used to fighting wildfires like out in the west.

But hey, oil company profits are at an all-time high.

The local weather substation runs a little hotter than most, but according to weather underground it's currently 93 degrees, with a feels like of 103.

I'll take 59 and clear on Saturday morning for my 10k though.

We are going to Sonoma county tomorrow with four out-of-towners. We’ll be going right into the teeth of it. Gonna screw up some plans for sure.

Had a great day yesterday in the wine country… but… last night the rain was really coming down. Returning to our place in rural west Sonoma county from dinner, my wife drove through a large puddle, and what looks like some sort of undercarriage shield partially disconnected and is loudly dragging on the ground. Still raining hard - no end in sight for a couple days. Called AAA to get it towed to a local garage here in outer Sebastopol, and we are going to have to wait - possibly hours - to get a tow. And, then hope it’s a relatively easy fix at the garage. Aaugh. (We have a second car, but six people, luggage, wine, and a lot of road closures, so we just have to hunker down.)
