I wish there was a way to convert my twitter list over. That's the biggest roadblock right now.

Just saw the stat (and likely the reasons for the slow down at the moment) as of 30 minutes ago Bluesky was seeing 133 signups PER SECOND.mister d wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:48 pm I wish there was a way to convert my twitter list over. That's the biggest roadblock right now.

I can't point you to it, but I'm pretty sure someone set something up to make this easier. I'm sure I saw that somewhere on Bluesky recently.mister d wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:48 pm I wish there was a way to convert my twitter list over. That's the biggest roadblock right now.

There was a Chrome extension that helps with that.

Nuclear block works wonders there. And the prevailing established culture is block and don't engage. There are entire block lists that make the experience immediately so much better.mister d wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 4:06 pmProbably twitter setting up bots to kill that experience too.tennbengal wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:56 pmJust saw the stat (and likely the reasons for the slow down at the moment) as of 30 minutes ago Bluesky was seeing 133 signups PER SECOND.mister d wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:48 pm I wish there was a way to convert my twitter list over. Men in Blazers announced on Facebook that they are also posting on Bluesky, and the majority of responses were highly disappointing. At least 75% saying things like "I won't be following you into your Blue bubble" and generally making fun of Libs, Bluesky and praising Trump. Similar surprise reading comments on US Soccer's posts after the game. Tons of praise for Pulisic showing his patriotism and love of Trump with his goal celebration.

I'm sure some of that is real but there's also a ton of AI/bot shit that's meant to seem pro-Elon and Elon-adjacent things everywhere.

It really is amazing how much it's changed in the last 2 weeks.tennbengal wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:47 pm Ian Rapaport arrived in the last few hours - probably a coincidence the site is struggling w/ traffic at the moment, or maybe not.
But, seriously, someone like Rapoport planting a flag is pretty huge. And Mina Kimes is still evangelizing. I think Bluesky is absolutely firmly established now. Following along live sports Friday - Sunday was pretty much like old school Twitter on my curated timeline.
Totally Kafkaesque

It really is so great, seeing sports take hold and flourish there. I really REALLY missed that from before Musk fucked up twitter. Closing in on something similar to what was lost now, with how I have my feed organized. Also, and this may seem sappy, but REALLY happy for people like Mina Kimes that she can post in a place and not immediately be bathed in racist/sexist responses. Such a fucking low bar, but here we are.

A lot has changed in 2 months!Shirley wrote: Thu Sep 14, 2023 1:57 pm I just loaded my home page. I can see 6 posts. Three are by Takei. One is a Takei repost. I’m just too lazy tbh. I’ll do it eventually as I see a lot of the music peeps I follow migrating over as well and that’s the main reason I’m on Twitter.

Please keep posting good sports accounts to follow there.
I'm still trying to build the right feed.

I’m generally enjoying Bluesky. Seems I get a few new legit followers each day.
Although I am tired of all the posts about Bluesky itself.

Random bluesky note - Jelly Roll, apparently THE Jelly Roll, liked my reply post to a Mina Kimes post where I noted that SoFi is a beautiful venue. So I guess I am best friends with Jelly Roll now.

The shift on Twitter has been noticeable too. Elon has turned on his bot generators; I’m averaging a new follower every 10-12 hours, all of them have zero posts.
Working to build a better feed on Bluesky. Still unfortunately click on Twitter out of habit. Agreed I’m tired of all the meta ‘this is the happy place’ posts, but that will stop. The bots will come too, for sure, but the question is how they handle them. i can guarantee they won’t be amplified like Elmo is doing.

Curate your feed aggressively on bluesky - use the directory for starter packs. It is SO good compared to twitter once you get your feed right and lists to sort it out.Square Rob wrote: Wed Nov 27, 2024 12:59 am The shift on Twitter has been noticeable too. I think we are connected, will double check.
Re: Bluesky invites
I think it's time to drop the "invites" from the thread title. We're into full-on usage now!
I haven't deleted the Twitter app or moved it on my phone, but I've made a point of very rarely checking it now. Unfortunately, there's still more chatter over there during and after UVA games, but hopefully not for much longer.
