Laughing at all that.
Dinner was indeed a borderline disaster. Definitely no chemistry.
The other possibility for next week ended up not working out.
BUT, hit a connection w/ someone Saturday and after some texting Saturday and later on Sunday, we ended up spur of the moment going out to get drinks last night after the game kicked off. We ended up having a really great two hours and I am pretty sure there will be a second date. She was awesome and we had a ton in common. As between Match and Bumble, Bumble has been the cooking-with-gas app this go round.

Living near DC is wild - just had a profile of someone flip across my Bumble app/feed who lists "CNN pundit" as her job...also she's listing as liberal...I don't watch CNN at all at this point so can't place her but she lists her name on Bumble as Jordan. She also has as one of her pics a pic of her indeed on CNN pundit'ing.
Props to her - she's written a witty short bio.
And, yes, 3000 miles out of my league.

Jordan Valinsky? I don’t know, he looks really young, but I think you have a shot.

Re: The Official Swamp Dating Thread
My quest to stay sane while Musk and Trump end the country and the world continues to involve dating and...it's a lot. It's going well, but, definitely out of my usual comfort zone. Been on 4 real dates now -one of those have had a follow-up date, with 2 more first dates lined up over the weekend and another two first dates possibly in addition to that.
I am told this is what I am supposed to do, but, I really like a lot of these women and am finding it hard to keep it generally casual in this process. I think my age (I am 54) and theirs (they have all been between 46 and 54) is lending itself to fairly serious chats/texts/phone calls in terms of connecting early on and keeping it light in a crumbling world is...a challenge. In any event, I really liked the date I had last night and am headed to a jazz club with her on Saturday for a second date. Just feeling weird to also be texting/chatting and dating others at the same time. And, yes, no one has talked about exclusivity, but I also am super unfamiliar with this approach. I guess they are also perhaps having multiple dates and this is what is expected but...it's still strange to me.

That is all prelude to the second part of that, I would imagine. But sexing across several casual relationships...eh...generally not my personality type. Or hasn't been.HaulCitgo wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 3:50 pm Sounds strange. Do some fucking. Don't get remarried. All I got

It’s all the rage these days. I wouldn’t even broach exclusivity until after like 3 months of consistently seeing someone.

Re: The Official Swamp Dating Thread
I'm with PDX. You need to keep in mind that you never dated as an adult, it's a lot different than college (or at least it was 20 years ago when I last dated, so WTF do I know?).
I don't know if it was just a NYC thing or an adult thing, but when I was dating someone, I just assumed they were seeing several other people. I remember having a great email chain convo with law school friends our first year out. I was all excited about the dating scene and mentioned that I was dating 5 girls at the time, and one of my friends said "that's great, but Valentine's Day is 2 weeks out, what are you going to do?" Then the others chimed in with sit-com script material detailing my V-day. The last woman I dated before meeting my wife, I made a comment that I assume everyone I'm dating is dating others. She then showed me her calendar and detailed all the guys she went on dates with, which nights and where they went. I think she had three others rolling at the time. My stomach clenched each time she told me she ended it with one of the other guys and it was eventually just me. I much preferred when she had other options, as she was way more serious than I was.
My point, have fun, meet new people, and take your time getting into a serious relationship. You are coming out of a 30(?) year relationship, no need to rush into anything exclusive.

While the world is falling apart, I’m at least moving away from the multi-first dates world, looks like I’ve found someone - which is cool. Turned off the apps anyway.

Yeah, definitely a short-lived return to the dating scene. I am very happy to have found the attorney/farmer. Thanks to everyone for listening/advice on this thread as to my return to dating over the last few years. Hoping my exit is from current dating updates is permanent in this thread. That is the plan anyway. She seems pretty psyched to have found me too, so that's nice and what not.

I really expect more out of Citgo than this deafening silence.

I mean, this is great for you and all - and congratulations on that - but kinda boring for the rest of us.
