Was talking to someone yesterday who is rooting for Bluesky, but finds it boring. He said Bluesky feels like a safehouse and Twitter like a crackhouse.

Not coincidentally, he is Black. Which we also discussed, as it's not the first time I've had a conversation like this.

It does feel a little Prairie Home Companion in there to me. Not that there's anything wrong with vanilla. We just need more flavors. Hoping that happens.

Good news is that I now go days without going into the crackhouse.

I agree with your friend, though I think it gives off a LinkedIn vibe more than anything. As in it feels like Early Twitter but everyone’s 15-20 years older, because they are. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, it just makes it different. It’s hard to have that same edge when everyone is more mature and more established in their real life circles. And I would be surprised if today’s 20-25 year olds are taking to Bluesky the way that people that age took to Twitter in 2007.

It may be time to admit that BlueSky just didn't make it. It's completely plateaued after the post-election surge. I just looked at my Twitter feed for the first time in a long time and there's just so much more content over there. I'm still not going back to regular Twitter usage, but it does bum me out that BlueSky couldn't get over the hump.

I like Bluesky and don’t miss Twitter a bit. I follow fewer people but have a lot more followers than I ever had on Twitter.
